1970s. In the idyllic Franconian forests, on the rocks of the Frankenjura there began to appear fat, unashamed red dots. They were painted by a group of free souls: climbers who have decided to move up rocks using solely their own strength; to befriend the rock in the act of free climbing rather than fighting it using technical aid.
2020s. If you want to claim an ascent of a climbing route, you climb it ground up, no falls, no gear pulling. It's obvious. Nobody paints red discs at the start of the routes anymore. There's no need. Redpoint climbing isn't avand garde anymore; it has become the standard and defined the rules of the game.
What lies between are 50 years of history. 50RP is a photography project seeking to tell stories from the free climbing history in 50 images and a bunch of timeless stories.
