Hi, hi, hi there*
*The credit for this line is due to Alex from Clockwork Orange (dir. S. Kubrick, 1971), played by Malcolm McDowell.
I’m Daga, creating as imschatten. I’m a photographer, film maker and a creative mind. I’m also a linguist and an occasional writer. I’m a climber.
As an artist I am interested in stories and their people. I take a camera to the places I visit and use it as a medium to experience them. I am also a climber and as such I love photographing the human relationship with rock. I spend my time looking for the thrill of a good story, a far-away place, a one-of-a-kind character. Perhaps what I’m trying to do the most through my art is to create some meaning for the existence. This is why I’m looking for stories that are full, ones that come from existences filled up with a certain something; something that has my insides flutter, itch and burn. If you’re interested to find out what formal qualifications I have, you’ll want to know that I studied and graduated in Digital Film Production (concentrating on Cinematography and Directing) and worked on numerous films. Before that I worked as a studio and event photographer. All the time in-between I have worked on various media projects. I raised my game in technical understanding of digital imaging when working as a representative for Nikon. I have worked in graphic design for a while. Currently, I am an Art director. I very much still feel a film, photography and art student. I watch, read, analyse and study every day. My artist name, imschatten, originates in German and translates to “in the shadow” (im Schatten). Art is born in the shadow and dragged to light by the artist (or not). I am a photographer and film maker who often gets lost in the shadow. |
